Recapturing Her Youthful Glamour
"Margaret" was all about her family and friends. She had dedicated herself to raising her children and adored her grandchildren. She led a busy social life and had a great circle of friends who were empty nesters and enjoying the next phase of their lives. Recently, she saw a picture of herself on Facebook her daughter had posted and barely recognized the ‘mature’ woman staring back at her. Almost every morning when she looked in the mirror, she would push her lower face up towards her ears to try to raise her sagging jowl.
Margaret came to see Dr. Yeung to discuss her look and share her concerns. Dr. Yeung carefully explained the range of treatments and procedures that could rejuvenate her appearance. Margaret wanted to go with a facelift and fat transfer; however, she was nervous about going under the knife. To ease her anxiety, Dr. Yeung met with Margaret three additional times to go through all of her questions, review what he would do for her, and discuss all aspects of the procedure, including surgery preparation and recovery. Dr. Yeung’s philosophy is that the more a patient understands about the process, the more comfortable they will be with his work and what they are committing themselves to. Margaret was particularly worried about pain. Dr. Yeung assured her that his procedures have very little pain, and after surgery his patients rarely take pain medication. Margaret also wanted to make sure she had proper care in the days following the procedure. She did not want to impose upon friends and was not sure her family would know what to do. Dr. Yeung arranged to have his long-time facelift assistant stay with Margaret for several days after surgery to take care of every detail of her day and night needs.
Margaret went forward with the facelift and fat transfer and was very happy with how smoothly everything went and the extra care and attention she received from Dr. Yeung and his team. Today, when she gets up and looks in the mirror, she winks at herself!
Rewinding the Clock
"Bob" was in his mid-50s, and he and his wife had decided to call it quits. The kids were out of college, and it was time for each of them to move on with their separate lives. Bob knew his independent future would be different and a little lonely without someone by his side. He also knew that he didn’t have the swagger he had 30 years ago when he dazzled his ex-wife with his chiseled features and dry wit. He was certain he was a more sophisticated and charming man today, but he just didn't enjoy what he saw in the mirror. His jowl was sagging. His eyes were droopy, and the dark circles were evident. He still had a great smile, but the lines around his mouth and eyes were deep. And his cheeks were sunken and hollow. He never thought of himself as vain, but he decided he had to do something about his appearance. He came to see Dr. Yeung and discussed his concerns. Dr. Yeung asked him to bring a picture of himself at his “ideal” age. Dr. Yeung explained that his philosophy is not to change a person into someone they never were, but rather to wind back the clock and enable his patients to re-attain a younger version of themselves. Bob underwent a facelift with fat transfer and subsequently had a CO2 laser treatment. Through enhancements to volume, texture and the shape of the face, Dr. Yeung helped Bob recapture the look and confidence he had in his dating years. Today, Bob gives new meaning to the phrase, “it feels good to look good.”
A Look to Match His Drive
"Gunther" was an oil executive and was spending an increasing amount of time in front of investors. He had remarked to himself that the investors appear to be getting younger and younger. And satisfying them is not easy. They want a steady hand and a leader who has been through the cycles but who also looks young and energetic! It was a paradox, but reality. Gunther was in good shape. He went to the gym three times a week and was even thinking about training for a triathlon. However, his face was starting to show noticeable signs of aging. His appearance was important to him, both from a personal and professional standpoint, and he felt he needed to do something. One of Gunther’s friends in the real estate business had a fat transfer and necklift with Dr. Yeung and spoke highly of Dr. Yeung’s professionalism and skill. Given his high profile in the energy industry, confidentiality was very important to Gunther. He liked that Dr. Yeung had his own dedicated surgery center and operating room where he alone performed procedures. The facility had a discreet entrance behind his practice to allow patients and their families to enter and leave outside of public view. Gunther decided to have a full facial fat transfer to restore volume permanently to his face in a natural manner and also had a follow up CO2 laser treatment to smooth the lines around his mouth and eyes. Today he looks refreshed and energized, and had very little down time during the process.
Fixing that Scar
"Ken" attended a prestigious law school and was applying for a job at a leading law firm in Houston. When he was in high school, he had been in an accident that left a deep scar on his cheek. During one of his interviews, a young lawyer asked Ken if he had been in a gang. Seeing the scar, the interviewer had made an assumption about Ken’s background. At that moment, Ken decided he had to get his scar removed, and he wanted no down time. Dr. Yeung met with Ken to understand what bothered him most about the appearance of his scar – whether it was the color, texture or size. They discussed a range of treatment options, including surgical revision and the use of lasers to address pigmentation and the surrounding skin. Ken underwent the scar revision procedure, and today can confidently walk into a meeting without being self-conscious about his appearance.
