Submental Plication

This is a procedure that can remove a troublesome fat pad from underneath the neck while tightening up the muscle. By elevating the skin and soft tissues of the neck and returning them to their original position, a restored, rested, and youthful appearance is created.

During Surgery

A small well concealed incision is made just underneath the chin. Through this incision, fat from underneath the chin is removed, and the platysma neck muscle is tightened at the midline.

After Surgery

There is a large cotton dressing and occasionally a drain placed on the patient. The day after surgery, the initial dressing is removed simultaneously with the drain. Many patients return to work within 4 to 5 days. Slight neck bruising maybe occur, but will heal quickly.
